What can I expect from the free 15-minute phone consultation?
I will call you at the time of our consultation and ask you some questions to see if we are a good fit. It is important that my style for counseling and the skills I use are going to be helpful for why you are coming to counseling. You are welcome to ask me any questions as well to see if we are a good fit.
What can I expect from counseling sessions?
The first session will be the intake session where I will ask you a lot of questions to get to know you and your world as much as I can. The following sessions will be when we start diving deeper into the reasons why you are coming and begin unpacking and working on those. I have a very collaborative style to therapy so we will work together in each session to figure things out. You can expect to feel heard, safe and never judged.
Do I have to be Christian to work with you?
While I offer Christian counseling, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with people of all faiths (or no faith) with the same level of care.
How does Christian counseling differ from traditional therapy?
If requested, I can integrate prayer and scripture into sessions and as ways of coping, but I will always use evidence-based psychological tools regardless.
I work in Law Enforcement. Are my sessions confidential?
All sessions and your presence in therapy as my client are confidential. The only instances where it would not be confidential are if you are a danger to yourself or others, or if you report any child or elderly abuse.
What kind of therapy do you do?
I tailor my approach to what will work best for each client. I tend to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness and Meditation, and Christian Counseling.
Can I meet at night after work?
I only schedule sessions between the hours of 9am-5pm on Tuesdays-Thursdays. The evenings are reserved for time with my family.
What if I'm in crisis and can't wait for a session?
If you are an established client, please reach out to me if you need help and I will fit you in my schedule as soon as possible. If you can't reach me or it is off-hours, emergency resources such as 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, calling 911 or going to your local emergency room are always available to you.
